… i am poor and needy …

... i am poor and needy.

... for the vast majority of people, this phrase is anathema.  "I am poor and needy", is a phrase that seems to state lack and insufficiency.  it seemingly is an admittance of some catastrophic failure.

... but yet, we know statistically, that 80% of the entire worlds population live on less than $10 a day / $50 a week / $216 a month / $2,600 a year.

... the very definition of 'poor' states "lacking sufficient money to live at a standard considered comfortable or normal", so by definition, 'poor' is relative to position of what is considered 'normal' where ever you may find your home.

... my home is currently in the United States, where the median family income was $65,910 in 2014 and the median price of an existing home was $188,900.    if the 'median' is considered 'normal' then you would be the legal definition of poor, if your family income is under $65,910, and your home price is less than $188,900.

... i personally live in Virgina, where the median family income was $78,290 in 2014 and the median home sale price was $302,000.   the home we live in is valued around $120,000 (still owe most of that) and our income is somewhere around 20% less than 'median'.   but most of my friends would call us rich.

But I am poor and needy; the Lord will take care of me;
thou art my helper, and my defender, O my God, delay not.

(Psalm 39:17, Brenton LXX En)

... but i am poor and needy.  the LORD meets all my needs.

james 2-5

... as a follower of Jesus of Nazareth, Whom i believe to be the Christ prophesied in the ancient scriptures, i am not seeking to be a success in the world system.  the world system values people who have money as greater than those who do not have money.

Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.” (1 Corinthians 6:19–20, NLT)

... i am poor and needy exists to promote good works that help the helpless.  we provide free websites to groups that are doing a good work, but have little support.  in 2005 we had a ministry to India, called New Wind Ministries, Inc. that eventually fed 240 children, one meal, six days a week.  in 2008 we closed our construction company, which supported the feeding project, and the ministry itself.

... after facing the real possibility of becoming homeless, we cried out to the LORD, Who in His grace and mercy, showed us that we had bought into the world system.  through years of seeking His face, i eventually set up iampoorandneedy.org to help promote the good things in this fallen world.  this has led to the creation of ChildrenShouldNOTbeSlaves.org, StreetChildrenofPakistan.org, and HomelessEcoVille.com, as well as my personal blogs a poor man's word and a poor man's Bible studyi am also the webmaster of Chicago and Michiana $5 for the Homeless who is working among the homeless populations of Chicago, IL and Michiana, IN.
