.. building a wall …

.. the country where i lay my head at night, is involved in an epic struggle that is causing reaction across the entire globe. it has been said that this country is the richest in the entire world, and it doesn’t take long to show this is entirely true.

.. according to How Much.net the United States is Number #1 in the wealth and greed category. now, these figures are just averages, because we also know that it has been reported over and over again, that 60% of all Americans would have a serious problem if they needed to cover a $500 emergency. that means they don’t have it in the bank, and they don’t have a credit card to put it on.

These are the top ten countries among the OECD with the highest household wealth, together with the average disposable income.
1. United States: $176,076 with $44,049 in disposable income
2. Switzerland: $128,415 with $36,378 in disposable income
3. Belgium: $104,084 with $29,968 in disposable income
4. Japan: $97,595 with $28,641 in disposable income
5. Sweden: $90,708 with $30,553 in disposable income
6. Netherlands: $90,002 with $28,783 in disposable income
7. Canada: $85,758 with $29,850 in disposable income
8. United Kingdom: $83,405 with $28,408 in disposable income
9. Luxembourg: $74,141 with $41,317 in disposable income
10. Denmark: $73,543 with $28,950 in disposable income

.. our southern neighbor has a much different situation;

“Mexico falls at the bottom of the scale, with average adjusted disposable incomes of less than $15,000. ”

How Much.net

… the richest country on the planet is talking about building a wall on it’s southern border to keep the poor out..

… there is a story in the Old Testament that i would dare say, the majority of the entire world has heard of, the story of Sodom and Gomorrah.  in this narrative from the book of Genesis, written cir. 1446 BC, we learn that Sodom and Gomorrah had committed sins the LORD had to destroy.

Then the Lord said, “Because the outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is great and their sin is very grave, I will go down to see whether they have done altogether according to the outcry that has come to me. And if not, I will know.”

(Genesis 18:20–21, ESV)

.. as the story goes, the LORD sends angels to the city and finds that the city is involved in horrendous sins, so the Bible teaches that;

Then the Lord rained on Sodom and Gomorrah sulfur and fire from the Lord out of heaven. And he overthrew those cities, and all the valley, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and what grew on the ground.

(Genesis 19:24–25, ESV)

… what great sins were Sodom and Gomorrah guilty of that would cause the LORD to have no other choice but destroy them? we are told in the book of Ezekiel, that the ancient nation of Israel had become more evil than Sodom.

As I live, declares the Almighty Lord, your sister Sodom and her daughters never did what you and your daughters have done. This is what your sister Sodom has done wrong. She and her daughters were proud that they had plenty of food and had peace and security. They didn’t help the poor and the needy. They were arrogant and did disgusting things in front of me. So I did away with them when I saw this.

(Ezekiel 16:48–50, GW)

… did you catch that?

They didn’t help the
poor and the needy.

.. was this the only time the Bible teaches the LORD destroyed a nation for being this evil? no, it’s not. remember, the passage from Ezekiel was about a more evil nation than Sodom, another nation the LORD destroyed into history.

Listen to this message, this funeral song that I sing about you, nation of Israel: The people of Israel have fallen, never to rise again. They lie abandoned in their own land. There is no one to help them.

(Amos 5:1–2, GW)

…. and the billionaire class in America is promoting building a wall to keep the poor and needy out of this country.

… the multi-millionaire university president, of the university that claims to be “the largest Christian University in the world,” was quoted as saying this;

“It’s such a distortion of the teachings of Jesus to say that what he taught us to do personally — to love our neighbors as ourselves, help the poor — can somehow be imputed on a nation.”

“Think about it. Why have Americans been able to do more to help people in need around the world than any other country in history? It’s because of free enterprise, freedom, ingenuity, entrepreneurism and wealth. A poor person never gave anyone a job. A poor person never gave anybody charity, not of any real volume. It’s just common sense to me.”

Jerry Falwell, Jr.

.. building a wall is immoral, and is daring the LORD to destroy this country..

… have we become so arrogant, that our religious leaders are daring the LORD?

.. God help us..
