… in the book of John, in the tenth chapter, there is a story that takes place at what most English translations call The Feast of Dedication which is also known as Hanukkah, where Jesus is walking on the east side of Herod’s Temple, in Jerusalem, in front of the Beautiful Gate, in an area called Solomon’s Porch. Hanukkah is also known as the Jewish Festival of Lights.
“As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.””Jesus, (John 9:5)
… it was Solomon who built the first Temple in Jerusalem. Solomon was the second son of David by his wife Bathsheba, his first son having been cursed by God (2 Samuel 12:14) as a punishment for David having got Bathsheba pregnant while her husband was fighting in the war so David put him in the front of the line so that he would be killed. (2 Samuel 11:1-25)
… it was also Solomon who asked for wisdom when the LORD showed up in a dream and offered to give Solomon anything he wanted. (1 Kings 3:5-14)
“And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding beyond measure, and breadth of mind like the sand on the seashore, so that Solomon’s wisdom surpassed the wisdom of all the people of the east and all the wisdom of Egypt. For he was wiser than all other men, wiser than Ethan the Ezrahite, and Heman, Calcol, and Darda, the sons of Mahol, and his fame was in all the surrounding nations. He also spoke 3,000 proverbs, and his songs were 1,005.” 1 Kings 4:29–321 Kings 4:29–32
… The Festival of Dedication or Hanukkah, as recorded in 1 Maccabees 4:36–59, is a Jewish festival commemorating the recovery of Jerusalem and subsequent rededication of the Second Temple at the beginning of the Maccabean revolt against the Seleucid Empire in the 2nd century BCE.
“Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you? If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him. For God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple.”1 Corinthians 3:16–17
… it was at this place, at this time, that the people insisted that Jesus tell them whether or not He was the long awaited Christ.
“Jesus answered, “I told you already, but you did not believe. The miracles I do in my Father’s name show who I am. But you don’t believe, because you are not my sheep. My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never die, and no one can steal them out of my hand. My Father gave my sheep to me. He is greater than all, and no person can steal my sheep out of my Father’s hand. The Father and I are one.””Jesus, (John 10:25–30)
… this really pissed off these good conservative people, so they picked up stones to stone Him to death, because they believed that they were good and Jesus was evil.
… so Jesus asked them for what good works were they going to kill Him for.
“They answered, “We are not killing you because of any good work you did, but because you speak against God. You are only a human, but you say you are the same as God!””John 10:33
… this is the height of blasphemy. how can any man say that he is a god? how can a righteous person let those words stand? so then Jesus, standing on Solomon’s Porch, during the Festival of Lights answers the self-righteous, ultra conservative crowd with their hearts set on murder.
“Jesus answered, “It is written in your law that God said, ‘I said, you are gods.’ This Scripture called those people gods who received God’s message, and Scripture is always true. So why do you say that I speak against God because I said, ‘I am God’s Son’? I am the one God chose and sent into the world. If I don’t do what my Father does, then don’t believe me. But if I do what my Father does, even though you don’t believe in me, believe what I do. Then you will know and understand that the Father is in me and I am in the Father.””John 10:34–38
.. did you catch that? He says that even if these self-righteous people don’t believe in what He says, then watch what He does. believe in what He does.
“In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”Jesus, (Matthew 5:16)
… Jesus said, basically, the ‘proof is in the pudding’. you can tell a person by what they do.
… right now, another group of Conservatives is meeting in Orlando, Florida, home of Mickey Mouse and Disney World USA. i would imagine that it would be hard to find anyone in the crowd who did not claim to be a Christian.
…they introduced a new idol to this years events.
… we are in the middle of a pandemic that has swept the globe and killed over 2,500,000 people in just over a year. a huge winter storm has reeked havoc across the US. the headline on ABC Houston, reads “69 deaths, 44 hours of freezing, $18 billion in damage: This week’s winter storm, by the numbers” ABC13
… 26,000,000 Americans don’t have enough to eat.
… hundreds of people are being charged in Federal court for insurrection after the Capital protests where 7 people died (2 from suicide). the protestors were asserting that the 2020 election was stolen, contrary to the Department of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) which stated, “The November 3rd election was the most secure in American history.”
… and a packed out crowd of good Christians is bowing down in worship to the twice impeached man of lawlessness
.. and the words of scripture cry out.
“So be careful not to let the light in you become darkness. If your whole body is full of light, and none of it is dark, then you will shine bright, as when a lamp shines on you.””Luke 11:35–36
“if you pour yourself out for the hungry and satisfy the desire of the afflicted, then shall your light rise in the darkness and your gloom be as the noonday. And the LORD will guide you continually and satisfy your desire in scorched places and make your bones strong; and you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.”Isaiah 58:10–11
